I am having my repainted and the shop indicated that the window gaskets would be removed and replaced, both bumpers and all lights, mirrors, hood and sunroof would be painted off car. Is that how yours is being done?

It doesn't look like they removed anything. I hope that's not the case.

Hmmm...

Looks to me like they removed the bumper, lights, fender vents, mirrors, trim aroud the door, window beltline molding, windshield molding, etc.

They may have painted the front bumper off the car and placed it on the car after the pics.

thanks guys.....the paint job is $1800 it is so cheap because my dad ownes a nissan dealership and the body shop manager hooked me up, the car was MB. They took the back bumper, mirrors, vents, and light covers off the car to be painted.

awww.. another one done before mine!!!

let me say that it looks AWESOME!!!!

well, im doing it the same color with the 99 spec stuff and no wing..... my car is in the shop now (well, kinda) and the paintjob that im getting would normally cost about $4200 but its a firend so yea.....

anyway, he is taking off my doors, hatch, hood, sunroof, all glasses and stripping everything in the interior... also, he is painting inside the engine bay but only the visible parts.. we are taking all the stuff off the motor but not pulling the motor....

the whole thing will cost me...... oh nevermind...

also, he use to paint hodrods and choppers for a living and he's a really good painter. he is using Glasso paint on mine which will come out to about $800 in paint alone. its really glossy but hard/expensive to paint!

hopefully, mine will be done before sevenstock!!

Pretty standard for a complete repaint.

He actually told you this? Sounds like the rumors I used to hear that the color-changing pigments were impossible to match (untrue) and that you'd have to repaint the entire car if you damaged a panel (untrue). Oh yeah, and you had to return any unused pigment because it could be used to print counterfeit money (untrue). In other words, anything to make the paint job sound more difficult and expensive.

Well, it was only a matter of time I guess....

Car looks a little dark for Daytona Blue, wonder what sealer they used.

it was painted at a nissan dealership so i would guess they use the same sealer as the factory....the pics were also taken inside the bodyshop so it will look a lil darker...trust me there is a blue z up there and it looks the same

Wow that's alot of money...

Here in downtown DC, I can get a "pant job" for about 50 bucks.

I'm not sure I'd share any pics of with you guys though.

yes, the $800 is only paint... the clear is going to cost an additional $4-500

also, dont you ever have anything good to say???? you act like a know it all and sorry if you do but i dont see you as a big EXPERT on everything so just dont say anything if you dont have anything good to say!

I think you've got that backwards. The base coat is always less expensive than the clear unless you're using one of the "chameleon" colors. I'd be surprised if a gallon of the color of your choice cost much more than $200.

Well, I'm very sorry if I made you look like the fool that you are.
