Pics of my ceramic seals and engine install

Engine isn't getting prepped for reinstallation until Monday, but I got a few sneak peaks of the engine and ceramic seals and one of my empty engine bay. The engine is a Pineapple Racing 5 year motor with a custom low overlap Large Street Port, Stage 3 oil mods with loopline, and ofcourse...2 piece 3mm ceramic seals!I'll post the rest later and perhaps some video.

Behold the beauty of 3mm ceramic!

Cool, it looks like you went to Autotech.

Funny thing is that the red project FD next to your was once mines. Maybe someday I will have an FD once again.

Finally, here's an example of what they'd look like by themselves:

Pictured above are the Ianetti units. The units in my engine are Pineapple's own custom seals which are pretty much the same except for the tips are a bit wider I beleive. The reason behind that is because when Ianetti developed the seals, they were predominantly for high reving N/A applications. Since my application (and almost all others who will be purchasing these seals) will be comparatively low reving with high boost, Rob figured a slight redesigning of the seals would be a good idea. Only time will tell if they'll perform as well or better than the Ianetti units, which have a very very good reputation.

That red FD just so happens to have a custom built quadruple 12a 4-rotor in it ...I don't think they'll be selling THAT car back anytime soon Their 3-rotor project car wasn't enough, so they decided to take the next big step!

I have an RE Amemiya intake, they just took it out for now...the IC is obviously the next step, that and fuel delivery. Once I get enough money I'll get a massive V-mount in there. For the fuel delivery, I'm thinking 1300cc secondaries and 720cc primaries for now and hook up my old 550cc injectors to an additional fuel rail once I get the GT35/40 and need more fuel. Also, I'm not really sure about the fuel pump, most of the pumps advertised only support 500rwhp, and I'm looking to run 550rwhp maximum power so I'd probably want a pump that can support around 600-650rwhp just to be safe...anyone have any suggestions for a well priced pump that can handle that??

Everything including parts and labor (new rotor and PowerFC) cost about $7500. The breakdown of the motor was:

5 year motor w/ cryogen - $2495
large streetport - $450
stage 3 oil mods w/ loopline kit - $375
Machining of rotors - $100 (got a discount because I initially wanted 2mm seals)
heavy duty waterseals - $100
Apex seals - $1550
Motor Mount - $250
shipping - $180
Rotor (purchased from BlackR1) - $150

Engine total - $5650
Labor (including 2 tows) - $1370
PowerFC (purchased from BlackR1) - $750

Rebuild Total - $7620

***WINNER!***

MOST EXPENSIVE REBUILD OF ALL TIME!!!

Looks really nice Chronos. Excuse my ignorance, but whats the bubbly gooey stuff on the apex seals? Some type of lube I assume?

Vosko, I noticed the IC too, was gonna say something till I read your post. But I will say what about that AST? Get rid of it!

I think its awesome that someone will spend this much money modding - and doing some very questionable stuff to boot - but what the hell? If you've got the greenbacks go for it! It's YOUR car and YOUR money - so screw everyone else!

Makes me appreciate my pretty much *free* ghetto mods all the more - .5 seconds slower from 0 to 60, but light years ahead in longevity. I'm gonna be buried in my freakin' FD3S. Seriously. Jeesh, I've already been married to the bitch for over 10 years.

I live in an area where new 03 silver Porsches are a dime a dozen. How cliche can you get? Yawn...... I can still run with the best of 'em - for $60K less.

IMHO, ceramic seals are a TOTAL waste of money.

They all pop without proper tuning. BTW, what is that gooey shitf? ***?

If it is, it sounds like you'd be the one who put it there.

Probably a combination of Marvel mystery oil, petroleum jelly and engine oil - the lubricants used to put together a rotary engine.
