As long as its runnig and its a constant flow if some one will host the video you can get a lot better idea of whats going on. I would like for people to be able to see the video so maybe some one could tell me for sure or atleast give me a better idea. it doesnt smell like burning coolant you know that sweet smell almost maple suyrup smell. at least i hope its just the turbos!

Slight smoking?! Looks like alot more then slight smoking!! lol I don't think thats just a "winter thing" I've started mine at about 15f outside and it just smoked for a few minutes till it was warmed up but it didn't smoke near that much. I'll host the video for ya, just pm me. It would help alot to see how much and how long its actually smoking.

not to be a thread jacker or anything, but mine did the same thing even when it was like 85F degress outside, but only for like a minute, and then it goes back to normal and there's no smoke visible at all. is this normal?

Theres the vid. I'm almost positive that smoke isnt just from cold weather. Do you know roughly what the temps were? I'm assuming your car is garaged since it was parked in there during the video so im sure it doesnt get really cold in there.

Mine did the same thing too. it would go away after a few minutes....but then, if I drove it and my rpm's hit 5k in 2nd or 3rd gear, I'd leave a trail of smoke like a jet in the sky. this would last a good 10 minutes into any ride. This happened regardless of the outside temps - but more visible during cold days....
Am getting a new engine now. Never got the problem specifically diagnosed. Compression check indicated bad engine, was enough to justify engine replacement without more head scratching.

First of all. Don't worry about the "smells sweet" bulls**t.
My FD had a sweet exhaust smell when the o-rings were shot and it had the same
sweet smell after the engine was rebuilt.
If your coolant is staying full, your o-rings are ok.
If your planning on keeping the car, have your turbos rebuilt. If that doesn't cure it, then yank the engine.
About 10k mi. after my rebuild, mine started smoking and I was ready to yank the engine. I came across a low mileage set of turbos and that solved the smoke
problem for me. If your turbos are original, I'd try that first. Don't panic.

Your O-rings can be bad, leaking coolant into the motor. Do you have an aftermarket ECU? Does your car bog a bit before jumping to a cold start rpm? If the smell is a sweet syrupy smell, it is coolant. Pressure test the cooling system and if it doesnt hold, listen around the turbos for a leak if it truly is your turbos. If not, you're o-rings can be bad and its time for a rebuild =/.
