Hey like the setup. I have the same 6 pots but using 355x32mm discs.

Stopping power is awesom with the 6 pot calipers.

See you at one of next years shows.

looks great. Excellent choice of calipers.

I don't see the fascination with drilled rotors though.

What pad will you run?

Are these show brakes or track brakes? Drilled rotors crack... quickly.

Great looking setup though...

show brakes? ap racing make the best brakes money can buy, drilled rotors do crack quicker than slotted ones but not quickly. These are serious 'break your neck' brakes.Wvrx7 we learn new things everyday!

Yeah, just the other day I learned that sound is the most important consideration when buying a BOV. I also have learned that rear wings make the car handle better when on curvy interstate exit ramps. Oh and one other guy told me that his body kit kept him from hydroplaning at 45mph and he was able to save his car.

It is amazing what one learns on the internet.

In reality though, AP Racing does, in fact, manufacture some of the absolute best brake hardware on this planet. They also manufacture a whole lot of parts solely to suit what the public wants. Sadly, the public wants the look of a drilled, slotted and otherwise decorated rotor.

The engineers at AP (and all other companies) know using these fashion pieces on the street is a bad idea but they want to make money so it continues.

Hell, you said it in your earlier post. They look sooooooo good. Can't you just admit that is why you bought the fashion rotors? Deglazing the pads, outgassing, heat reduction, they are all myths for street use.

Current (quality) competition level pads DO NOT need to be "de gassed" or deglazed. Find any literature from a manufacturer that says otherwise and I will be shocked.

SOME racecars use drilled rotors in competition but those rotors are used for a few sessions, a race or maybe two, but they are never expected to last through months or years of heat cycles. The rotors are replaced almost immediately and cracking doesn't become a problem. On the street, even the richest among us, would like rotors to last as long as possible. The constant heat cycles, road grime, water, etc. is very hard on drilled and slotted rotors and they degrade quickly. I predict your sexy rotors will be cracked in 3 months. I, for one, won't pay for new rotors that often just to be cool at the local cruise in.

If you are smart, and I bet you are, or you wouldn't have spent that much money on brakes, your next set of rotors will be solid and you will be much happier.

strange? i thought you said you never heard of deglazing pads? anyway,i don't need to admit that i bought the "fashion rotors" because they look cool ,because i already said that,so what is it that i need to admit? and the grooves do deglaze the pads and reduce bedding in time may be not on current comp pads but they do serve this purpose, and do you think these are the first rotors i've run? i've run them all, solid, drilled, grooved, combi, cruised to shows and ragged them on the track and street, they've lasted longer than you predict.Much longer.
As for the racecars its fact that these guys dont use anything on the car for long,if you know a race car mechanic or can find your way into the paddocks thing like wiggins couplings, quick disconnect brake couplings are thrown away like you wouldn't beleive, you'll see them lying on the floor. You and i would pay maybe 60,70,80 bucks or pounds for one of these, they have too much to loose.
Tyres is another passed down the line to the poorer weekend racer example,do you see much wrong with them after the elite have binned them?
Thats not a good example you use.
Now the first words you used, what were they? oh yes"looks great".don't ya just, don't ya just love 'em.
Nothing wrong with fashion and nothing sad bout wanting drilled or grooved or both, skys the limit!.Now chill.

Sweet lookin front setup. What did you do to balance out the backs? Did you address the increased master cylinder requirements?

The backs are still stock,i'll put an inline bias adjuster in there and lose the stock proportioning valve then add a SPA gauge to show front/rear bias. The factory master is adequate for the step up from fours to six.
Maybe i'll even ditch the whole factory set up and go triple masters running servoless with remote alloy reservoirs and dash mounted bias adjustment, then i can really impress all at the shows with my fashion brakes and sexy rotors!
