My car currently has a pfs. My mods arent going to be anything major, but bnr stage3 twins and a smic, nice fuel setup yaddy yadda... but, what EMS will give me optimal performance. I have yet to play around with the PFS on my car at all yet.

You're going to need to upgrade your fuel injectors to be able to push the boost up and keep injector duty levels down on the BNR's. Therefore you're going to need the PFC to control them.

 

A PFC is more advanced ECU. It's a full standalone where the PFS is a piggy back. How far do you plan on modifying you car? With a PFC you can upgrade injectors, do anti lag (w/Datalogit), tune with a wideband and bunch of other things that you couldn't possibly do with the PFS.

get a PFC w/ commander to moniter settings. You can also tune with it but to be exact you can get a datalogit also for tuning. Take 1slick7's advice. So having a PFC or similar stand alone unit gives you full control over fuel and timing.

You don't need anymore than you have, so long as you have the software to adjust the tables. The PFS computer is just fine for as long as you stick with the twins, or unless you have money to burn.

The PFC is a superior unit but if you are not going single, there is no obvious reason why you need to adjust anything more than timing, fuel and boost and the PFS does that just fine.

 

I would prefer having a PFC having piece of mind that things can be adjusted to its peak and not tuned just for certain maps with accordance to your mods. It may cost a bit more for a stand alone but using one will definitely keep you calm.

 

I have an AEM wideband from my evo. Will the commander for the PFC monitor A/F ratios like a wideband, or should I install the wideband?

 

check in the PFC section, I'm not sure if anyone has tried to get the AEM wideband to be able to be read by the datalogit software. The DIY wideband by techedge does work with the datalogit so you can use it for A/F ratios. The PFC itself only allows you to monitor or watch the stock O2 sensor voltages in the .01 to .99 format.

I was never able to get the AEM to work with the datalogit. It was WAY too noisy to be able to pull any useful info from. Others had problems too.

However, RooR, I think the real answer to your question is that the PFC won't do anything with the wideband regardless. You have to have the datalogit to go with the PFC to be able to log outside sources. But if you got the gauge version, it still wouldn't hurt to have, so that you could at least visually monitor your AFRs.

I dont think you really need the wideband to work with your PFC do you? For Roor, all he would have to do is know the ratio of each light indication on his AFR guage using a wideband. And use the datalogit to tune to get proper AFR's. You could street tune?
