PFC ECU - need the boost controller too?

Recently purchased a newer model PFC & Commander. The package also came with the PFC integrated boost control mechanism.

Do I even need to install this or will the OEM boost control mechanisms (pills, backpressure, etc) be enough?

Mods:
- 99 turbos, DP, CB - currently pulling at 10/8/10 (no plans to go higher).

Thoughts?

Steve

No. If your holding a 10/8/10 pattern, why would you touch it unless you want to change it?

that was my thought. Problem is that was on the stock ECU. I assume if the PFC is set up & tuned correctly, the stock system should hold right?

Yes, its going to boost the same as the stock ecu. However make sure it stays at 10 psi. If you want to raise the boost, it needs to be tuned.

I'm running a tuned pfc, and higher boost. I have the boost set at .9 bar (about 13 psi). I have found that the pfc allows higher boost than the .9 bar. There have been times when boost has exceeded 1 bar.

I suggest that you monitor your boost to see if the pfc will control it the way you want. It may be fine without doing anything extra.

Keep in mind the stock map sensor as read by the PFC reads a little low compared to real life.
