PFC Commander old school cell phone holder

Has anyone recently purchased one of the old school cell phone holders that everyone used to make into a commander holder in the cigarette lighter location?

I made one around 2007, and I’d like to make another now, but I’m having trouble finding the auto parts store style cell phone holder now a days. Everything I’m seeing on eBay is for smart phones and doesn’t have the larger arms that held the commander so well.

I think most people adapt the Banzai holder to a cigarette lighter plug.

Looks like a lot of work and an expensive piece just to ruin. The old cell phone holder was like $6 haha

They just cut the holder part off and screw onto a spare lighter power plug, probably takes about 5mins.

Personal preference maybe, but with the OLED commander the OP might be surprised on how easy it is to read from it's placement to the right of the console (on the Banzai mount).

Does it put screw holes in the dash at all?

On the 93 models, it screws into the side of a panel behind the dash and beside the glove-box. Essentially invisible. No personal experience, but on 94/95 models it looks like the holder might utilize existing bolt holes in that same area.

Yup, I can read the OLED commander way better than the older one. I think some folk prefer the commander be in their line of sight, the glove box location required you to take your eyes off the road. You are correct about the Banzai holder mounting, I have a 93 so mine is tapped into the dash but the screws are hidden by the glove box. I'm ok with that location, I think eventually I'll relocate the holder to the cigarette lighter spot.
