Pfc ...
Stupid question. I'm looking at a modded Rx 7 and in the list of mods it says PFC stock mount intercooler, PFC cold air induction, PFC catback exhaust, etc. Now, what exactly is PFC ... is it a company that makes these parts? I always thought PFC stands for the PowerFC??
Oh and also, the guy says that ever since he put in the PowerFC ECU the A/C no longer works. He says it's a common problem that can be fixed. Can anyone tell me how difficult and/or expensive it is to get the A/C working with the PowerFC? I definitely would need to get the A/C working. Thanks!!

My A/C works fine with my Power FC. The Power FC is probably hooked up wrong on the car you're thinking of buying.
Probably PFS stock mount IC and cold air induction, PFS catback...PFS is Peter Farrell Supercars.
Interesting that the guy ditched the PFS Purple and opted for the PFC, Apexi Power FC ECU replacement...Apexi Power FC is fully programmable and is currently the state-of-the-art if you're looking for a plug and play ECU upgrade. The PFS Purple is a piggyback ECU that fools the stock ECU to make the adjustments in boost, fuel, ignition timing etc.

Something is Up, Watch Out!
There should be no relationship between the PFC and whether or not the A/C is working. The owner should know this. Either you misunderstood what the owner is saying or the owner is giving you false information.
If the owner is giving you misleading info about the A/C then what else is he hiding from you?
Walk away from this deal or be prepared to be sorry!

Thanks for the quick reply. I will double-check with the guy ... maybe he did mean PFS for the other mods.
SleepR1 ... not sure what you mean regarding the PFS purple ... I don't know anything about that. He just says the car has a PowerFC ECU. You are saying the Apex PFC is really good - so I guess that's a good thing.
Jonesboro - thanks for the info. I'm going to followup on that. He said exactly:
"I haven't gotten the AC to work with the PFC but it ran cold with the stock ECU. This is a common problem that apparently can be fixed, I just haven't fooled with it."
You're saying this doesn't make any sense?
Strange because the guy seems totally honest and on the "up and up" and the car sounds solid. Hmm...

Do a search on the PFC and a/c problem in the ECU forum.
here is one: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=193733
and there are dozens more like it.

The A/C problem with the PFC does NOT have a definite cause or solution.
It works on some cars and doesn't on others.
I have spotty A/C on speeds 2-4 with my 95, yet my mechanic has perfectly working A/C at all speeds with his early 93.
That said, the A/C should still work on the "1" setting, at the very least. Mine always works on "1" and works about 50-75% of the time on the other settings. Most people just have trouble with the "3" setting.
EDIT: Also, I can vouch for the PFS intake and SMIC. They may be a pain in the *** to deal with, but the parts work well.
