Geez- and I thought I was the only nitpicker that didn't like the way stuff fit...

I have the Pettit one. Attaching it with RTV seems to work just fine. I was skeptical at first, but it hasn't fallen off yet.

I didn't like the high angle the Pettit pod points the gauge relative to the dash gauges, so I put it on a belt sander and dropped the front of it substantially.

To determine the new line, I mounted the gauge, put some clay underneath it, mounted the pod, squished and measured the width of the clay to determine how much room it could be dropped. I also measured the clearance of the side stalks. With this info I figured the line I could sand it down to.

I also would recommend the 0-15 PSI VDO gauge. It looks absolutely stock, is cheap and provides the most signal range for the boost range of the stock twins. Most other gauges just have to show 25-30 PSI of boost, with vacuum, jamming the usable range of the gauge into what seems like about two degrees of needle travel. When I want vacuum, I get it off the commander.

Another vote of confidence for the Pettit piece. I didn't use RTV though, just a very small amount of clear silicone adhesive and it never moves. The stock cover wasn't any better IMO.

I wish I would have found this thread sooner!!! I ourchased this pod from Petit thinking that I wanted less clutter and try to make the gauge install as stock looking as possible. THIS MUST BE THE WORSE SPENT $100 OF MY LIFE!!! I am extremely disappointed!! Just received the item last thursday, installed it on Friday, and by Saturday I was already looking for a replacement!! I think I am going to go with a 2 gauge or 3 gauge A-Pillar mount. Exactly what I was trying to avoid!

I ran this pod for a very short while and was never really happy with the fit. I too, felt as though it could have had more work put into making it fit better. I tried modding it, but never was satisfied. I think I sold it for $20 just to get rid of it.

Just pop it off, my Pettit pod is not even level, one side is higher than the other.

Got it. I just pryed very gently with a slim tipped screw driver and off it came. Didnt break any tabs. YAY...

I have to agree with everyone else. This pod is pretty crappy. I would have just sticky taped a gauge cup if I'd known..... Oh well it will do for now.

Wont buy from Pettit ever again. Waited 3 wks for some basic tune up parts, couplers. Rediculous!!!

Not sure why you guys are having problems. I wonder if they changed design.
But I like mine. Been on there for at least a decade now. Had it off a few times for one thing or another. Looks good IMO. Just a little bit of silicone at the tabs is all that keeps it there.

This is racing season and Pettit does tend to many area race cars (as well as their own). If waiting 3 weeks for parts is going bend you that much, you are in for a fun ownership with this car. I've waited 8+ months for parts for this car in the past.

Only problem I have is it's not level, I don't bother holding it down as it works fine just resting on top of the stock lower cover. I'll have to trim one side down so the whole pod will be level, but I'm worry about trimming fiberglass.

The underside has some texture to it, I guess it's from the plastic mold, but it's not smooth like the upside so I thought it's some kind of fiberglass mold with plastic on top.

3 or 4 days to get the part delivered from Pettit... 30 minutes with a dremel tool, some sand paper and 4 dabs of rtv for fitment... Looks nice... No worries...

Cordially,
