Pettit Racing New Short Shifter Review
#26
When I bought a short shifter from rx7 store, the package came shipped from Pettit Racing!!?? It was a completely different shifter from the stocker. The shift was actually reduced by about half a throw.

Just gonna chime in since this thread has been resurrected.
I used to have an authentic B&M short shifter, but it eventually got sloppy. Now I have a B&M clone that is steel instead of aluminum. I got it off eBay for like $20 shipped. I know a lot of people hate on "eBay parts" but I've had great experience with this new shifter.
It's definitely a true short shifter - the lower part of the lever is much longer than OEM.
Been using it for about 20k miles now and it still has yet to get sloppy. Not bad for $20 IMO...

Reading Theorie's positive experience, I think I'll give the ebay short shifter a shot. I can always go back to stock if I don't like it.
Posting ebay links is probably not allowed so my question is when I search for RX7 short shifter in ebay there are two el cheapo versions. One is silver (aluminum) $24.99 and the other one is black, same as in the pics Theorie posted for $39.99 and it is steel.
Should I go for the steel or the aluminum? What is the genuine B&M made of?
