my friend drives a 2006 Yamaha R1 with no exhaust (its hella loud!). One day he wanted to take a ride in my car. We got in, and I got on it, and at about 14 PSI the wastegate opened up, and the first thing he does is he covers his ears, and says "HOLY ****!! THATS LOUD!!"

I'm not trying to say its hard or impossible, it would require a lot of mods, I'd think a 600rr could take most FDs out there. Was your car single and was it just the top end the bike pulled on it or bottom and top end?

Ok so I am 20 dating an almost 18 year old preacher’s daughter. I have taken my girl for a ride several times but nothing over 15psi of boost didn’t want her telling daddy. Well I was picking her up from home on a Friday night supposed to be going to the movies and I decide to drive the FD. Pull in and go in to get her well she looks out side and says you’re driving the race car huh never seeing it just able to hear the open exhaust. I am like ya well dad looks at me and says take me for a ride. I was like ok. Well we go down the first straight stretch on low boost 15psi . I am a little worried cuz I am well bellow a ¼ of a tank and I know that this is a no no so I am praying not to suck air. I do a 3rd gear pull and he was like man that was fun no real excitement. He said this is a 12 sec car huh I said ya he got to talking about his camaro back in the day. I couldn’t take it I pull into my house grab the 50 gallon drum of 110 and fill it up. Him asking why I had my gas in a drum. He had no clue went back to the same spot and came to a stop no traffic you would have to understand were I live. I change to high boost setting 21lbs and let loose 1st gear second and it begins to fish tale keep it going then 3rd and I here the oh **** call. I slow down and he is in a panic not for sure if it was scared or realized he just cussed. Never herd that man say one bad thing in the 1 year of dating. Needless to say his daughter can’t ride in my car no more. Oh ya if your wondering what he felt t51r 21lbs of boost on stock tires. lol

The best story i've got is a freind from out of town brought his Yamaha R1 bike down. I gave him a ride in my not tuned single turbo fd and he got out of the car shaking.... .... I never thought i would make a guy that drives an r1 shake how he did.
As for others I enjoy watching them trying to hold there heads up during wot.

Back when I was running all out mods and not a logical setup I took my friend for a ride and scared the Bejesus out of him.

I had all the bolt-ons, full 3" exhaust with no cat, still sequential and a RX7.com 14psi tuned ECU. In my experiences it was one of the most thrilling car setups I've driven up until I had put some road time in my neighbors 03' Cobra (540rwhp). The FD, still remains to be my favorite car of all time, and the responses I get from people when I drive it just makes me happier all the while knowing it is a 13 year old car.

Last week I was goin to class and an old dude in an XJ pulls up next to me and asks if my car is the new miata... nope its an RX-7, oh I liked the way it goes around turns (took a 90 degree sloping offramp at 50-60 or so).

And the other day I was at my friends house and his moms friend keeps talkin about Porsches so I told him I'd take him for a ride in my car. Redlined the first 4 gears and the whole time he was laughing in an excited way, said he liked how it pushed him back into the seat haha.

Even though i started this thread I had never sat in an fd. Untill last night. I got a chance to drive a fairly upgraded fd. It used to belong to Rick of Rickst rotary here in cali. He sold it to one of his friends and this person ( mark ) said that it was pushing 450~. So i was going to just go for a ride in his car. but he asks me " have you been drinking AT ALL TONIGHT " me " no i dont drink " him - " ok you drive then " me - omg omg omg.. etc lol anyways i get in and once i get one it... holy crap you really feel the difference in weight, i have a supra right now that im in the process of selling. The best part was when i was driving his car, and when i went wot, after asking him of course, he went dead silent. in his own car. DAMN so supras gone fds in~ fun fun fun.

i was once driving down the 'strip' and a car with 2 girls in it is keeping up with me trying to get my attention. i look over and roll down my passenger window. "nice car." "do you even know what it is?" "its a mazda rx-7." "!!!!!!" she actually knew what it was, which to me, was amazing! she caught me in a good mood, so when she asked if she could go for a ride, i obliged. we pull over, park her car, and her and her passenger hop out. im 18; young, stupid, horny; so i say "eh, 3 people in a 2 seater? why not, we'll see where this leads." i take them around the strip and they both loved it. long story short, i ended up with both of their numbers i only ended up calling 1 back; that wouldve been either really awkward, or led to great sexy time? i guess ill never know? ahhhh, to be young and single again.......

as of recently, almost all of my passengers dont like riding in my car (mostly girls). it isn't the power, or race ready suspension; its the 4pt cam lock racing harnesses that annoy them. i have to spend a good 5 minutes with every new passenger teaching them how to click into camlock harnesses. of course it ends up all messed up with the waist belt all flipped around and the shoulder harnesses all twisted; but after waiting for them to figure it out, my patience has worn thin and im ready to go. i really dont like driving with passengers (again long story short, being responsible for someelse's life in an incredibly fast machine), but other then the harnesses, i get nothing but praise. oh yea, and the door handles are funny. Dane Cook has a joke about girls not being able to get out of cars, and thats all i think of when i see them struggling for a couple minutes trying to figure out where the door handle is (of course, not helping them- theres no humor in that.)

my good friend has a MKIV supra. although my RX-7 has a good 50+-rwhp more then his car, the torque on the supra is just phenomenal! its insane when you can actually feel your body being rudely forced into the seat! my car doesnt have the same effect, even when it is going faster then the supra. thats one thing that our mutual friends notice about my car is that i dont have the torque thrust. our cars have torque, but not supra torque. oh yea, and they all love the SSQV blow off valve. go figure?

the 2.0way LSD also startles them. "i think your cars broken. something keeps clunking in your rear end." meh, ill bring it out in the spring for some pony rides, see what kind of reactions i can conjure up.

my buddy had a R32 GT-R skyline it was a piece of crap but was fun... that thing launched pretty good but I cant wait to see what my FD will do once its had some nice goodies added to it..... then the fun will begin

So I finally got my FD...and took my Dad for a ride...
He knows I've always wanted an RX7, now taking him for a ride he learned why I've been wanting on for so long. First corner comes up a nice 35mph corner, and I enter it around 60 and my Dad tenses up to embrace...a smooth effortless glide through the corner. He makes some comment about the car handling really well...

Then comes a nice straight and he's still talking about handling and I step on it about 3/4 in and he pauses mid sentence as he hears the turbo spool up and not a moment later I hear him scream like a girl as the car rockets forward briefly before I let up and the BOV pops one off.

I love this car!

I gave a ride to Lisa. We were talking up until we hit a little tunnel before the freeway, which was when I went about 50% throttle. An awkward silence befell the elbow room that separated driver and passenger in the FD, and all I could hear was the crescendo of my HKS exhaust resonating off the walls of the tunnel.

As we broke into the winter daylight, I noticed her attempt at conversation.

"So uhm, is driving fun?"
"Yeah... kinda."

Talk resumes as normal - the kind of talk you would engage in while waiting for the light to turn green. Humans can't appreciate periods of silence.

"So, what're you gonna do for the rest of the day?"
"I'm going hiking. A friend found an abandoned building.. -he- asked me to bring my camer..." Lisa's voice trails off as I softly launch from the lights.

Not too long after, we're outside her apartment. For the second time she asks, "Oh no I'm locked in. How do I get out?"

I sit and smile as I watch her fumbled attempts at locating the door handle. The window switch, the grab handle and the plastic piece covering the innards of the exterior door handle were adequately probed. In a moment, she makes sense of her exit and steps out, taking extra caution not to step onto the Amemiya carbon sideskirt lip.
