I took a fellow autox'er for a lap, and he told me two things after the run:

- "Man, I didn't think you'd save it."

- "I feel a little bit nauseous."

I would probably give my wife a heart attack in the FD, she already screams at me whenever I corner the 8.

Ha Ha. All This just makes me feel absolutely amazing. My Fd isnt running right now but I dont care if it takes a million years before i get her right. No reactions so far because it was automatic but i used to get hella complements. "oh **** son, that **** is hot" or wow that thing is cute or just people staring at me when im at a light. Hopefully tomorrow she will live once again.

2nd time I met Sgt. Blue, he let me drive it. It was awesome, and I still remember it, especially the on ramp where he told me to wait, then chase the minivan in front of me.

I think my reaction when he gave me the key was something like wha.....wha wait, WHAT????

Then after I got out, I had to drive home in my sloppy shifter, non turbo FC.

Usually, my freinds are too "seasoned" to say anything. But, theyll be talking about whatever, and as soon as I hammer it, they shut the **** up, plant their feet on the floor, and grab the oh **** handle. THey dont move from that position till I let off. That says it all for me.

They may complain about having to climb over the door bar to get in, the stiff suspension and the fact that it is no longer rotary powered. One rolling wot pull from 2nd to 4th gear usually makes them forget about those other "inconveniences"

Thanks silver93rx7r1. I always have to tell my autocross passengers to keep their hands off the door handle to keep it from getting worse

One of MY first FD experiences was back in 1999 when a friend of mine invited me to a NASA track day riding in his '91 NSX. All day long we were being lapped by a black '94 FD. I thought we were tearing up the track in his NSX, but after witnessing the speed and handling of the FD, I just had to have one.

+1. I must remain patient!

All of the previous statements are truly accurate for me too! The only person in my fam to actually push her was my mom. When we got sideways around a corner, I looked over an said, "Oh ****, mom!" She looked over and grinned and slyly remarked, " don't act like you didn't know..."

I've only really let 2 people drive my 7... my Ol' Man and one of my best friends... Both of them let off the throttle and gave me the most bewildered look when my single hit full boost.

Another guy just tells everyone that comes into his shop... "This is the guy with the FD.... it's nuts... it's just nuts man."

"I didn't know a 1.3L could push a turbo that big?"

"Exhaust Overheat? What's that button do?"

"I think I fractured my neck when my head bounced off the roof... You destroyed the suspension on this car!" -- Coming from my dad after he hit some bumps before I got my coilovers adjusted right... now he loves it.

When I start boosting everyone shuts up. I remember when my girlfriend would ride with me and I would do a 2nd and 3rd gear pull. She would just put her hands over her eyes and scream. LOL

Also almost everyone says, "How do I open the door?" OR "Where is the door handle?" (Getting out of the car).

Also everyone asks me what the big red arming toggle switch does (meth injection).

Most people have trouble finding the door handles, especially the interior. They usually love the seats and 'cockpit' style dashboard. They're always surprised to hear how old the car is.

I've got a friend who owns a pretty quick motorcycle (modern 600cc sportbike), and he really enjoys driving my car at the autocrosses. I think that says something.

My friend is an idiot and mimics the HKS SSQV BOV when I had it installed. That's all he cared about was hearing the BOV.

My other friends have said the same things usually, how do I get out? it's so low, it's too hard for them to get out of, blah blah blah. But when I get on the throttle, they are always looking up for an "oh **** handle" lol

Most of my friends just ask why I dont have a 2-way in it yet and why the stock seats suck so much and why its so high and they used to ask why the wheels were so sunk like a honda...I fixed the wheel part and to the rest I just reply "well atleast its fast......I can work on the other shitty stuff"

Reactions I've got:

* Man! its kinda loud isn't it
* Its so awkward to get in, why is it so low
* Where's the door handle
* those fumes are killing me
* your car is flaming like crazy

I remember the first FD I test drove was a single turbo a T04 of some sort. Anyway show room exit was on a road with quite a slope. So here I am pulling out onto the road, no cars giving me way... I finally see an opening, put the pedal down to the floor... the car starts moving slowly and I'm thinking this is not that fast... rev needle just hits 4k, there's a small hesitation / jerk from the car... and then BANG !! and I mean BANG !!! The car launches foward so violently its unbelievable... the needle's at 8k in less the a nano second and where going sideways ... there's a series of almighty pops and bangs... I finally get my senses back and shift into second and let off the throttle... I'm like "what the **** !!" . The salesman is like "what the **** ! Slow down !!!" I can see panic in his eyes and his face... lol... I took the test drive after trying to decide on whether to get a Supra or RX7... that test drive made my mind up, I was getting an RX7 no matter what...

I'm a bit of a free ride *****. I love seeing peoples reactions and hearing what they say.

From a sponsored female drag racer when we pulled up behind a Neon at a light. "That Neon is huge compared to us".

A friend who had never been over 110 mph:
I was in 2nd, laid the peddle down at 5500 rpm. We loose traction and all you hear is his change falling out of his pockets. I had to get out of it because I was laughing so hard. It sounded like I won on a slot machine. I looked over at him and he was all scrunched up in the seat with a surprised look on his face. I said thank you for donating to the RX-7 fund. Then I punched it again and ran it up to 145 mph. I thought he was going to cry, but he loved it and was utterly amazed.

Local cop:
"What kind of car is this?" "Is this a prototype?" "There's no way this is 12 years old."

My FD is in the process of getting put back together. I have never driven an FD and this is my second one now.

Back a few years ago I borrowed a friends 88 5.0 Mustang. When my wife and I would go for a drive I would punch it for a sec and my wife would scream at me to stop.

I can't imagine what she is going to say when I take her for a ride in my FD.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks
John

My co-worker said it felt like airplanes taking off. I only went to 6k in 2nd gear, not even WOT.

I think I've never went fully WOT on the FD yet... but I remember myself shaking after going WOT... Still amazed by the 7 everytime i push it~
