Part of it is how you're shaped as well. I'm 6'6", but thin (about 190 pounds) and have long legs. I can't fit well in a Touring with a sunroof, but I fit just fine in my R2 with no sunroof.

I would like to be able to move the steering wheel closer - that would be perfect.

For you non-metric people, his height is 6'4" and weight is 242 pounds. With your size, you really need to find a car to try out before you make a decision - you're on the borderline for a comfortable fit IMHO.

Definately with your size get a r1/r2 or base. You would be shocked at the difference in headroom. HOwever you might want to buy seats from a touring edition (leather) because they are a little wider than the base or suede seats. Good luck.

FC's are a bit roomier than FD's - I fit GREAT in an FC. My big problem with the FD is the steering wheel - it's very low, and it isn't adjustable for height.

I actually drive with the seat one click up from fully back and the seatback pretty straight up - this gives me the best arm position, but I still don't have as much bend in my elbows as I'd like, and my legs are crooked around the steering wheel. But, since the cockpit is so tight, I have my knees resting on the door panel and center console, and it's VERY comfortable. Made the 8 hour drive home when I bought it without a cramp or complaint.

For what it's worth, I am about your size. 6'4" and 260 lbs. And I have a touring. To make things even more interesting, it's my daily driver. I dont really think it's a problem. My hair touches the roof, but it doesnt bother me. I have been in an R1, but it's been awhile, so I cant remember the room difference. I love my car, and am very comfortable in it. I'm obviously not the ideal size, but it's still worth it to have my dream car. If you can find one to sit in, check it out, it may not work for some people, just thought I would share my experience to help answer your question. Best of luck to you and have fun.

6'2" 198lpds. No problems until i put on a helmet. I have sun roof though. R1 or base model would have more headroom.
