Passed Emissions!!! How I did it

Well I finally got the FD to pass emissions testing in Las Vegas, however with how low my numbers are, I could pass in any state, even CA.

My setup:
Large Street Port
NO ACV, AWS, Double Throttle

Here is how I passed:

1. High flow cat - ditched the 80,000 stock cat
2. Working Air Pump - A must....my numbers were horribly failing without the pump
3. Power FC - Locked in my passing numbers with this
4. Denatured Alcohol - Don't know how big of a difference this made, but I figured it couldn't hurt to use a little in the gas.

Set the idle on the power FC to around 800, and I took fuel out of cells n1-n8, then set the PIM values for 1000-3000 RPMs to 85%

I ran the air pump directly to the high flow cat via heater hose and the factory hard pipes, and rigged it to run constantly via 12v power to the battery.

End results:

Idle Test:
HC ppm = 15
Allowed = 220

CO% = 0.04
Allowed = 1.2

2500 RPM Test:
HC ppm = 38
Allowed = 220

CO% = 0.12
Allowed = 1.2

So for all of you out there wanting to do the vacuum system simplification, go non sequential/single, etc. YOU CAN pass smog with no ACV if you have an air pump, high flow cat, and PowerFC/Fuel management system.

those test seem easy as hell to pass...i recently passsed mine last november and it was put in a roller simulating driving conditions on the highway and city. I lil near chicago so maybe they are more strict. I only took me 5 tires . i wish i had a idle test. btw the guy driving my car was boosting a lil hard at time to get it up to speed.

do you have any pictures of how you bypassed the ACV and how you connected the pump to be constantly on to the battery? I need to do my emission and during 2500RPM. the readings are ok, since the airpump was running. but once the gas is off, I can hear a "click" sound, either the airpump stopped spinning or noise from the ACV?!?? I measured the connector at the airpump and it read has voltage there during idle. but since the pump is not doing anything the HC goes off the roof. is the airpump suppost to pump during idle? and what's double trottle?

Double throttle is an additional secondary throttle plate in the throttle body. The stock throttle body has top and bottom throttle plates (two round disc for the secondary runners on top and one disc for the primary runners on the bottom) that regulate air flow and are linked with the throttle cable. Both of these move with the gas pedal. The double throttle plates (which are in front of the two upper secondary throttle disc plates) work by a vacuum actuated diaphragm. In the Fd it closes to keep the engine from over boosting during warm-up cause all the air flow is now directed through the primary ports. Most guys eliminate the plate cause is disturbs the air flow at higher rpm's costing hp.

All I did was run a line from the back of the air pump down by the secondary turbo inlet pipe, and to the hard line. You can get tubing the right size at your local autoparts store.

Then for the air pump, I just cut the connections to the car (since mine wasn't working connected, really old harness) and just run new positive and negative wires to the battery terminals and connected them with ring connectors. I lumed it all, ran the wires behind the accessories, and you couldn't even tell it was there.
