which parts to swap to shortblock first?

Did a search and couldn't find much info on this topic.

So I pulled my motor recently and have a shortblock to swap in and was wondering what people have swapped first or if it even matters.
And I'll also be doing a vacuum line job at the same time.

Hoping for pointers and tips please. Thanks

note: first time working on a rotary.

theres so many different ways.. it doesnt really matter. whatever is easiest for you. only thing that really matters is the stuff on top of the engine under the UIM. besides that everything can pretty much be bolted on whenever..

Start from the bottom up. While you have the shortblock out, if it's a used shortblock I would recommend at least replacing the rear main seal. You might think about re-sealing the oil pan. Both jobs are a pain once everything is installed.

I would recommend sourcing new gaskets as much as possible. Nothing worse than putting everything in only to have leaky gaskets, especially in the turbo and LIM areas.

Also, get the shop manual, it does have the procedure for building the shortblock back up.

If you can, get the Pineapple Racing engine stand adapter and an engine stand. Makes it SO much more pleasant to work on. Take your time and get everything on there RIGHT, nice clean parts, new gaskets, etc. Give yourself PLENTY of time to do this right, then when you drop it in you'll have a sweet looking and running engine.

Thank you everyone for the tips.
I already have a shop manual, but haven't really had a chance to go through it yet.
My biggest concern is still the rats nest.
