Does anyone know how much difference there is between the 93-95's with the color vintage red ? My car is getting painted but the guy doing the work brought it to my attention that i may want to go with a different yrs paint code. Was there any difference at all between the yrs? I know that some 93's had problems (like my own) but i really would like my car to look nice. We arent using the same crappy stage 1 paint or whatever, we are using ppg but wasnt sure of any differences. Thanks for any help

 

There is actually two differnt paint codes for 93. There is an NT which is what r1's and base models came with. The touring models had an option of high reflex paint or something like that. The paint code for this was NU. This is a tri satage paint and the NT is a single stage paint. I beleive that the paint codes for 94 and 95 where the same, they just changed the paint and painting process. The problem with the 93 was lack of adhesion, the paint was actully a neet color. You could really choose any color, just look through the color books at PPG.

 

Thanks for your help. I just wonder if theres much difference if any between the yrs since i wont be painting my door jams, engine bay, etc. I dont want it to be off too much if i were to choose a different yr paint.

 

My 94 VR r2 model has a paint code of NU also.
