here the break down on the car history i bought the car a few years ago wit 83k on it in great condition. Never have a problem with the coolant leak or the light goin when i'm drivin. Run great, still does but the things just leaks alot. Since this leakin problem happen i have the light been on a couple of time when i start the car and then it would go away with in a minute. Hopefully its just the thermostat or the pump nothing major. I dont drive it alot. Within three years i have only put 5k on it. I dont drive it to hard. I even change the coolant a couple of days ago and thought that would fix the problem, but it only fix it a couple of hour then back to it again. Need help i dont really wat to take it to the shop. HELP!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!! !!!!!!HELP

A couple of ideas:
Radiator cap (AST) could be bad. You could also have air in your system. My car has done this once, shortly after I bought it. Since then, I've had the coolant flushed and replaced. Hasn't happened since.

I'm going through sort of the same thing right now. The problem is you are loosing pressure in the coolant system somewhere. THe overflow tank is overflowing because you coolant system is just pushing the fluid out, it's not sucking it back in. So the more coolant that you add , the more that will get pushed into the coolant tank. Eventally it will overflow.
I bought an 80 dollar tester and I am losing pressure, very slowly. I can't find the leak so I think that it is internal to my new motor. You have a few miles on your car so we are going to assume that is not it. Your first course of action is to rent or borrow a pressure tester. This will pump up your coolant system, then you should look for leaks. If there are no leaks and the system is holding pressure replace your radiator caps.

Same thing happened to me! Worst case scenario here, o-ring failure.. I'm rebuilding the engine now. If this is the case, what happens is that when you stop your car, combustion gasses force the coolant out of the overflow bottle. When it cools down, water will leak into the engine chamber. At first it would just be an annoying leak, after a few weeks (and a lot of coolant) the car became harder to start. Finally one day it wouldn't start at all.. Hope this is not your case!

Same thing happened a few weeks after I bought mine tried a diffrent radiator cap, No avail. Order a new water pump from Mazda some how I got the whole Front water house assemble cost 200.00 WS but you got the new thermmstat and one peice house and new sensors
so put it on replace the air seperator tank and havent had the problem since. If your car still has the factory water pump my experience with all the cars i have had
a water pump could go out any at as low as 55k so it's going to go out if you change it now you won't have to cahnge it later and a thermo stat can stick any time so it couldn't hurt to could only help in my eyes.

I checked the plugs today and there wasn't any white build up on them. So I don't know what it can be, I'm going to change the oil to see if there is any water in it. There is a small amount of white (maynaise like) build up on the oil cap. Which tells me that there could be water in with the oil... Either way I'm going to take the car to Mazcare here in atlanta and get a conclusive anwser.

Sorry to say it, but this is exactly what happened with my car. Happened rather quickly too. You've got all the signs that I had of o-ring failure. sorry to say it, but thats probably it. Its nothing you did, the seals just get old and deteriorate. Probably one of the most common problems with the engines. How's the idle on startup. Does it have a hard time starting sometimes? Also can you hear water running through the dash? Well just keep adding water everytime the car is reasonably cool. You do not want to overheat! Whats happening is your coolant system is being overpressurized, thats why your overflowing. When you add coolant add it to the water pump. Not the overflow, it'll just keep flowing out. Hope this isnt your problem, but sounds so very familiar.

i just developed the same thing yesterday. I will be taking out the overflow tank to see if there is a tear or anything like that...hope it's not o-ring failure. the car only has 41k miles on it. Let me know what you find out.
