Opinions wanted on a rebuild

Ok, I don't see my questions really answered in the archives...need your CURRENT opinions.

Looking for a stock rebuild which may be eventually upgraded to ..say ...350 HP. Not a big fan of porting. Just mostly wanting a good driver.. 2mm seals..

1) What is the advantage of solid corner seals? Would you upgrade from the stock ones?
2) What is the current feeling about Rotary aviation overhaul kits? Do you trust the apex seals? Where would you buy the kit from?
3) Is there a best o-ring kit? Are the Viton rings sold in most kits?
4) What is everyone's experience with Rotary Resource? Are these kits good quality?
5) Would you change out the oil pump if there is no reason to believe there is a problem with it?

1. On a daily driver without porting I can't see the advantages of solid corner seals.
2. We have not had any problems with the RA seals. You can buy the kit directly from them
3. No the viton rings are not sold in most kits
4. No personal experience
5. Inspect it, if it is worn or out of spec replace it, they are pretty inexpensive.

None really. People usually look to solid corner seals when having large ports done (so the rubber insert of the stock corner seal doesn't fall through). However, just no useing the rubber insert is what most people do.

Some people like them, some people hate them. Honestly, you'll have to do some reading and see if they will work for you.:

Some say they are too hard on the housings causing way too much increased wear.

Not really a "best" kit. Honestly, IMO, whatever is likely to cause the stock o-rings to fail, will most likely cause any others to fail as well.

If you do a rebuild, there are measurements to take on it to verify it's useable.
