opinion on exedy clutch?

does anyone use this clutch?

seems like a standard OEM clutch?

i need to replace the clutch but i want something that is daily driveable. i wont ever go over 350hp so should this be a good choice or should i get one that is a little stiffer? 4 and 6 pucks are definately out of the question. but is increasing the preasure plate a good idea?

i just got my new clutch installed. it is ACT's S/S with a heavy duty pressure plate and i couldnt be happier. The clutch grabs hard and is perfect for street use. i recommend that.

Exedy makes many different clutches. Which one are you looking at, specifically.

I am running the exedy hyper single it so far seems to be a good setup with thier flywheel, a little hard to get used to but a strong clutch for the street.

I have heard bad things about Exedy clutches. I have never used one or drove a car with one, so I don't know from personal experience. One thing I can tell you though is I have bought two ACT clutches and they are the best. I have absolutly no complaints and they are tough clutches.

I just love mine. Have the clutch plate, pressure plate and the release bearing from them.

I found it odd that Exedy and ACT have the same part numbers. . . . Does anyone know if ACT is an afiliate of Daikin Clutch company?

ACT is not a part of Exedy/Daikin Clutch.

Here's how it breakss down.

In Japan - there is Exedy (name offically changed in 1998). In America there is a wholy owned subsididary of Exedy named "Daikin Clutch". Daikin Clutch does a TON of OEM business, including the OEM FD Clutch, every Honda Civic, every Accord, every WRX, every EVO, every Cavalier, and the list goes on and on.

Exedy/Daikin Holds 95% of Japanese OEM business. They supply all 11 Japanese manufactures along with their factory race teams (STi, Ralliart, MazdaSpeed, NISMO, etc, etc). Additionally, "Exedy Performance" products are sold thru Daikin Clutch - these are the anodized purple "Hyper" series and Carbon series.

Since Daikin/Exedy manufactures such an enormous amount of OEM clutches, Daikin/Exedy sells it's OEM products to clutch companies that modify them to their specs, paint them their company color (yellow, orange, white, blue, etc) and sell them as their own.

I hope this clears some things up - or just confuses the heck out of you.

Be careful hunting for the "best deals".

This eBay ad may be a tad misleading. If you read it, the auction is for an OEM Replacement clutch. In other words STOCK clutch.

If you want a Stage 1 Performance clutch, it is part #10802.

Always be an educated consumer!

See above... There IS a difference between OEM and Exedy Stage 1 Racing (Organic).

I purchased my OEM replacement from GripForce shipped from Exedy here in michigan, showed up quick and I paid $250 shipped, everything's great but I think either the pilot bearing failed or I borked it at installation somehow :/
