Angry One year on... still having oil problems

Hi Folks, I wonder if anyone can help...

I have a problem that appeared exactly a year ago, kicking off all kinds of troubles this year, and is still there. So this is a desperate attempt to fish for random ideas before I pack it all in and give up the most characterful, entertaining and downright brilliant car I've ever driven.

The problem is this. Within three hard-charging laps of any reasonably fast circuit, my oil catch tank fills up. (It then overflows onto the downpipe and all hell breaks loose.) When the catch tank wasn't there, the oil was just coming out of the induction kit and spraying all over the engine bay and the windscreen (Scoot bonnet... ).

In normal driving the catch tank gradually fills, over about a month, with condensation (water), but very little oil, so this problem is specific to high G cornering.

Things I know the problem is NOT:
1. Normal (it started quite suddenly)
2. The turbos (they've been replaced)
3. Rotor oil seals (they've been replaced)
4. Oil surge (I have a baffle in the sump, though that's not to say it works)

Here's a list of all my engine mods:

Blitz induction kit
Hybrid turbos
Rotechniks stock mount intercooler
Street port
3" downpipe
Bonez high-flow cat
Racing Beat cat-back
Cusco oil catch tank
Apexi PFC

The catch tank is plumbed to replace the connection from the filler neck to the secondary turbo. Note that the car is a '99 model, so it never had the connection from the filler neck to the manifold.

The only other problem I'm suffering is poor idle control.

So go on, any ideas welcome...

George, this is a well known problem among us FD racers. Check out the link Mahjik already provided. That has the collective thinking on the subject right now

Thanks guys. I'd done searches before honest! I'm reading through the posts as we speak... if I have any specific thoughts I'll post there rather than here.

But in the meantime, I'm very surprised that Mazda didn't solve this problem over the course of the FD's lifetime. If not you US racers, then certainly the Japanese racers must have suffered from this and complained. Sorry, this is not constructive, but it seems a shame that we have to resort to turkey basters to corner properly!

my car is a 95 which also doesn't have the PCV valve here either (something I just learned). The nipple on the oil filler neck was capped off and I was leaking oil everywhere, mostly after a hard run (I don't track the car). I removed the cap on the nipple and just let the pressure vent into the atmosphere. surprisingly NO more leaks (it's been about three weeks), except from my omp which was dying in the first place. If your 99 has the nipple on the filler neck and it's capped off (like mine was) maybe you could just try to remove the cap...

Not that it probably matters very much to any one on this site, but the PCV valve is for pollution control. Your basically defeating the emissions controls in this manner, i.e.. venting the gases into the atmosphere instead of reburning as it was intended to do.
