Which one?used OMP/newOMP/no OMP?
Okay, I'm running new engine harness, doing a silicon vac job and generally chasing down and fixing (and cleaning) everything underhood before my car goes back on the road. One headache looms: the OMP is bad.
A used one will cost $650 (no guarantee of how long it will last), a new one, $1200?!! (is there anyone out there who's actually bought a new one?) or using the $$ to get a PFC (setup's a stock 5spd) which will then allow me to take out the OMP entirely and premix or leave it alone and premix. I suppose this question is entirely about money and spending it wisely. -Stefan

Removing it is a bad idea IMHO. It is really silly and a messy PIA to carry extra oil with you for a street car and dump it in at every fill up. You'll also have to add a lot more oil than the OMP does. The OMP delivers the oil exactly where it is needed, on the rotor housings.
Pre-mix adds the oil to the fuel, the gas vaporizes during the injection process and the oil is vaporized with it. When the fuel burns you'll get little oil on the housings themselves so you'll need to run a much richer fuel/oil ratio than the OMP does. It'll end up working, it works fine in two strokes but they stink and what if you forget to add oil?

Yeah, thanks fellas. It was about time i utilized the forums Classifieds. I scored big! Locally! Omp w/new lines $125, he had a DP too and threw that in for an extra 75! Big ups to you Willrx7! Yeah Jeff I'm too absent-minded to deal with all that. I used to keep a quart and a funnel in a plastic bag in the storage bins (just in case the dipstick was a little low before long drives) but somehow oil always found a way to puddle up at the bottom.
