Uhh...if the car is in gear, your foot is on the brake pedal, but you have to release the clutch slowly in order to get the revs to drop lower...

That would be the car trying to say "HEY, YOU'RE ENGAGING THE GEAR AND I'M TRYING TO MOVE FOWARD...EITHER LET ME MOVE...OR I'LL WEAR OUT YOUR CLUTCH"

Bad answer to your problem, mate.

I say check the simple idle-related basics. TPS, and make sure the throttle cable isn't being pinched, just stuff like that.

When I had idle issues, too high, too low, I simply adjusted the throttle-cable. Not the best option, I know, but for a quick-fix, it was the only option I had...and worked out just fine, in the end, in all honesty. :P

To know if it is clogged you just have to remove the outgoing coolant pipe. Start the engine as see if water flows though it. If it flows no clogging. If it does not you will have to check if it is the intake or the out take or both as mine was.

We removed the clog by slowly pusing a wire in. Took us nearly 2 hours for both.

jd to rescue - i dont mean to sound stupid but whats a bellows valve?

YoshiFC3S - before you come out with comment like that why dont u read the thread properly!!! again for those who not reading properly i used the clutch to slow the engine couple of time to prove it has no probs idling low i dont go round sitting on the clutch like a idiot and if u read the thread propely you would know ive dont the throttle cable checks and TPS and to make u happy i even run it yesterday without the throttle cable attached (and by running i mean start engine and let it idle the way it wants) hope this makes u happy

vellj001 - is the exit hose the one at the top of the the Warm up thing? that can be clearly seen? as i cant see the other water pipe to it.

again to the usefull guys thank you very much for your help I appreciate it

p.s i think i might take the throttle off tonight and give it a good clean and make sure everything works

I use the word "bellows" to describe what it looks like. If you have ever seen a respirator in the hospital ( or on TV because I know this generation does not get out much) the bellows on the respirator look identical to this thing. "Accordian-like" would also be a way to describe it. When you have the ISC removed, you will see two openings on the face that bolts to the UIM. In the opening toward the body of the ISC there is an accordian like plastic component. The plastic accordion looking component is the mechanism that functions as a valve. That component needs to move back and forth to open and close the intake (the other opening) to the ISC. The openings, if you will, serve to deliver additional air into the UIM (bypassing the throttle plates) when the accordian valve is opened, thus, allowing the idle to raise as necessary. If it hangs open [and it has for me twice], it allows too much air under normal idle conditions and elevates the idle to the undesired 1400 to 1700 level.

jd to rescue - thanx again mate youve been great

now i know what u mean the white plastic thing inside the idle valve thats the one i took off and said u can move that white bellow back about 1mm back and thats it what ever inside it is inside the bellow is stuck there ortherwise in the 1mm off movement moves perfectly and freely

also so you know took the throttle body and idle valve off again gave them both very good clean out with carb cleaner (throttle body need it) and put them back and used temp gasket with the one that was on there as i havent been to mazda yet to pick new ones and the same no change even thou throttle moves nicer now and the warm up valve is perfect and water line isn not blocked at all water flowing perfect

vellj001 - so theres ur answer no prob with the warm up thing lol

No that is the intake the outgoing is under the airduct which connect the intercooler to the upper maniflod. You will need to remove the airduct to be able to see and check it properly if I am not mistaken.

Dont forget to add coolant to replace that which falls out.

The idle advance screw is one the top of the throttle body towards the front of the car. It looks like a screw. Remove it(dont lose it). See how it idles with no screw mine sits at 600-700rpm(hard to read the tach below 1000).
