One of the crank angle sensor wires breaks
What kind of damage could one expect if a CAS wire were to break during acceleration?

I suspect the car would just stop. If the ECU loses the crank signal it's not going to know rpm so you would get no coils or injector firing & it would probably shut down the fuel pump and say whoa!

Loss of CAS will drop igntion and injector pulse. The car will stop running. If it is intermittent the ECU will re-sync when it can so you may get stumbling.
You need to fix that connector. You may be able to find a few people that have spares. I have two, but I'm saving them for when mine fail
