Ok, what do you guys think of this?

Planned Upgrades to my FD:

I just found out the other day that I am deploying to the Middle East, again, this weekend. I was planning on adding a Wideband O2 sensor to my 7 here shortly, but with the possibility of more readily available funds I think I am going to go ahead and stick a bit more into the engine when I get back.

Current deviations from stock are:

Koyo Radiator
PFS AST
Greddy dual intake
Greddy SMIC
M2 DP
High-flow cat
A'pexi N1 Duals
PFC w/Command

I am *pretty* sure this is all that has been done to it, unfortunately I can't go out and check since I am still waiting on her to arrive from America.

I have looked at my current financial situation, along with where I project it to be when I return and I have decided to put right around $7,000.00 into upgrades when I return.

Here is what I am thinking of doing, I wanna know what you, more veteran owners, think of what I am planning (aka, solid choices, or retarded recipe for a rebuild, also any comments or suggestions)

I want to buy and install:

Wideband O2 sensor
Datalogit (if I can get one)
BNR Stage 3 twins (seq)
Wastegate/BOV
850cc primaries (for an 850/850 set up, **already have these, just not installed**)
Walbro Fuel Pump
Mid-pipe (possibly, depending on how system is working)

I want to install most of this on my own (have access to a full shop) but will def be paying a specialist to do the BNR install. I *think* $7k should cover these parts and install (where necessary) without tapping into my "oh ****, fix this!" fund.

What do you guys think? I would love to hear ya'lls comments and suggestions on this.

-Levi

1. ok
2. definitely
3. no reason to if your current turbos are working great, but otherwise good
4. You can't use an external wastegate! Zero point to using an aftermarket BOV unless you want the noise.
5. OK
6. OK
7. OK if wastegate is ported.

Car will be able to run 15-16 psi, depending on octane with those mods.

I see all power mods, what about suspension upgrades/maintenance, bigger wheels/tires, etc?

IMO, you'd do better by spending some of that money on refreshing your brake and suspension systems before trying to make the car go faster.

I was thinking of something along those lines (mainly because from what I have read the BNR's really don't get "happy" until about 14psi). A lady I work with is married to a guy that works at one of the small local airports, so I figured I may be able to use this as a resource for some higher than pump octane fuels. I haven't done much digging on that though. I am actually a bit concerned irt the tuning for this if I were to go with this setup. Being in England I don't know the local scene AT ALL insofar as to who is experienced with tuning rotaries and who just has a Dyno and would like the chance to tune a rotary... (when I get back I am *highly* tempted to contact as many local FD owners as I can and see if I can't convince Steve Kahn to take a trip over...) I honestly have *not* done my research on this aspect of it as of yet, I will not do anything without knowing exactly what all my options, and possible outcomes are though... As for the fuel I can (and will) get pump gas at 94 octane (not RON) on one of the bases about 10 min from my house.

The rims are still stock, tires are rated at ZR. I am definitely considering upgrading these when I get my yearly re-enlistment installment (roughly $3.5k) in October. Again, I would definitely research what sizings would work best before buying anything there, though it is on the to-do list. The suspension was upgraded to a track oriented set-up before I bought it (and I can feel every pebble in the road as a result, comfy....)

I wasn't aware that the BNR's did not need an external wastegate or BOV. I listed those because I was under the impression that any deviation from the stock twins (a la going single) would need them. IMHO the noise from the BOV is kinda cool, if you want to announce to everybody within a city block that your car is turbo charged. Though if it isn't going to serve a practical purpose than I am just as happy w/o it.

I have not noticed any glaring problems with my boost sequence, which leads me to believe that the turbo's are still peachy. Though the guys up at RP Performance did point out that one of the bolts in the turbo's had almost completely spun itself out. Obviously they tightened it back in place, but the possibility of this happening again w/o me noticing it in time does have me a little worried.

Thanks a bunch for responding!! I definitely appreciate it (if nothing more you will have saved me money on pointless parts with the WG/BOV, I didn't realize they were about as needed on BNR's as a turbo timer =D )

Thanks,
Levi

You bring up a very valid point. I'm pretty sure the brake assembly is still stock. I haven't checked the pads themselves yet to see where they are at wear wise. Do you think that the stock brakes would be overpowered by the possible output after the mods I listed on top of the ones I already have on them?

The suspension has been tinkered with (though not by myself) I can't remember off the top of my head exact model data, but I'm pretty sure that the stock setup was exchanged for KYB shocks and Tein springs. I would have to actually crawl under the car to get more specific information on them. Unfortunately I won't be able to do this until after I get back from being in Theater.

Thanks for your suggestion (I hadn't even thought of the brakes, pretty sizable oversight on my part, lol. I appreciate you pointing that out!).

Thanks,
Levi
