Here is where that "slidehammer" come in handy. If you cannot smack it loose easily with a rubber mallet, then you will need to head to a parts store and pick up a hub puller/ or slidehammer that will span the stud pattern.( fit over the studs.) Then when the studs are secured to the tool you use the "slider handle" to pull the hub off. You will be creating an impact at the end of the stroke that will help get the hub off. It sounds like you may want to consider replacing your wheel bearings when/while you have the hub off. Hope that gave a little insight to the tools and methods used. FWIW: Spray some penetrating oil on the hub bearing/s and let it soak in for a while then try to jarr it loose again.

For my $0.02, I'd get a gear puller from Sears and use it to pull the hub. I'm gonna guess it's an interference fit. Some will probably just tell you to hit it with a hammer until it comes off, but that seems a little too in the back yard to me... gear puller shouldn't bend the hub, unless someone knows better (wait until others respond).

The other way I think is a slide hammer with an axle attachment. Sears again... maaaaybe a rental store. Now that I think about it, this is probably the better way to go over a gear puller...

Does the splash shield unbolt from the backside? Or are the bolts behind the hub (that would be SOOOOO typical of this car's designs! EVIL). I haven't played in this area too much to be able to tell you...
