Ok Removing AC.

Alright, I took out the condensor and a few lines, but I'm at the removing the AC compressor. Well, do I need a small belt for my pulleys now for taking out the AC pulley or what? I'm confused. Thanks.

yup........u definetly need a shorter belt
remove the power steering while your @ it and then u dont need that belt @ all then u can remove the bracket that holds the compressor & steering pump and clear out some room in the engine bay

if you do a search, you can find a part number for the belt to run after removing your pump. I looked it up on the search when i removed my compressor a couple months back.

the compressor weighs quite a bit. you pretty much have to take out the p/s pump to make taking out the a/c easy. if anyone comes across the belt part # i could use it i never found it, yet.
im putting my p/s back ran without it for awhile. no complaints at all i just want it back. if anyone wants an elimination kit maybe pm me

I'm not trying to remove it for weight or anything I just haven't used it once for the 3 years I owned the car. I guess cause it wasn't working for some reason...Plus i'm getting a bunch of **** done, kinda pointless to have it in the way if it don't work.

+1 on the belt....where can you buy it from, I mean who makes it?

Gatorback Belt.
part no. 4060360
IIRC it was for some ford car, but its the one that fits.

i did this a while back, and you dont need to take out the power steering. I jus took out my battery.

I didn't have to take out my PS, theres only 5 long bolts that hold the compressor on. It was pretty easy, except I have big hands so it was pretty hard getting the bolts out, but I did.

Another question...Is this something that goes with the PS? It goes into the PS fluid neck. Here are some pics. It's in front of the radiator, the steel lines

I'd just rather get rid of it. I like my windows and sunroof down more anyways.

There is no point in removing either in a street car in my opinion. You won't notice any significant power gain and will have the pleasure of arriving everywhere with your back all soaked in sweat

The belt I just pulled off my AC is 19 1/2 inches long, this one says 36 inches. I need one shorter than 19 1/2 if I removed AC.

Are you removing anything else besides your AC??? If not the part number i supplied and the belt will work. I can't think of any other reason besides if you also removed your P/S??
