ok question! just sent my 93 fd to the dealer

for the recalls the old owner never had done. They are claiming that since it is not leaking (pressure tested it) and there are aftermarket parts on the car "braided turbo lines" they would not perform the recall!!!!!!!!!

does anyone know if this is real bad? also what the hell are braided turbo lines?

I think recall is a RECALL...doesn';t make the MAMUFACTURE defect go away...some turbo lines are rubber, maybe your previously owner changed for reliability issue...

It shouldn't matter what aftermarket parts are on the car. If the original part is still on the car which is part of the recall, then the recall needs to be performed.

Now, are they saying the the fuel line has already been replaced?

Iam telling you man it wont matter if you have aftermarket parts or not. If the recall part is still OE and not changed then they have to recall it. Man go to a higher level. Iam telling you this is very serious and should not be taking lightly. A recall is some serious ****. If you knew what it took to have a part recalled you would know what Iam talking about. GET IT DONE!

Call MazdaUSA and explain the situation. They'll handle the dealer for you.

Just call them. If the OEM part is still on the car, they must do the recall.

If they refuse to do the recall then I'd pick up the car right away and take it to another dealer who WILL do it. If somehow one of your aftermarket parts is interfering with their ability to perform the recall or creates some other genuine problem (which I doubt, but you should know exactly what needs to be done to the car for the recall as well as exactly what kind of aftermarket parts you have just to be sure, there is info on the recalls in felix's faq), then you'll have to swap out the aftermarket part for an OEM one. Otherwise, just take it to another dealer, every Mazda dealer should be authorized and capable of performing the recalls.

they are now claiming that it appears that the recall has been done, ie not stock lines.

also has upgraded hoses and spark plug wires.

The service manager basically didn't know his *** from his elbow. he was scared to take the car apart claiming they didn't have the parts anymore

Ok, they should be able to tell if the recall has been done by looking at the VIN#, you're right, they sound pretty clueless. I'd take it somewhere else for a second opinion.
