Oil temp thermostat???
I am installing a Setrab oil cooler in place of the two factory oil coolers and was wondering, because I've seen people mentioning that they installed an oil thermostat within the oil system. Would anyone know where it would be installed and what purpose would it have since the factory system does not have this within its system?
Thanks Diego

The FD came with an oil thermostat in the E-shaft. The reason for external one is to bypass the oil cooler while the oil is cold. No need to cool cold oil.

jr426 is right and wrong. There is an oil thermostat in the eccentric shaft but this merely controls the oil to the rotors themselves. It is NOT part of the external oil cooling system.
The stock oil coolers do in fact have oil thermostats built into them. Look at the sides where the lines enter the coolers and you will see the caps of the plunger that opens and closes. It works just like the water thermostat in the filler neck; opening once a certain temp is reached.
You need to install an oil thermostat with your new system as well.
