Oil Pressure Sender -glorified switch or true analog unit?

Is it a true analog output, or a simple digital on/off switch? It only has 1 wire . . .
I'm trying to log oil pressure with an aftermarket ECU and would like to avoid using multiple sender units if possible.

i've seen people rip out the stock gauge and then modify the dash cluster to have an aftermarket one...

does anyone have a link?

You could always attach a volt meter to it and see what the voltage is as you sit at idle, and then rev up to 3000 RPMs.

But I'm sure it's the gauge that's more like a 3 stage switch!

The number of wires is irrelevant, it's analog.

btw, chassis ground acts as the signal return line --> good grounds are critical for all 1-wire sensors.
