oil pressure sender the 99 cluster

just wanted some sort of verification but does the signal from the oil pressure sender go anywhere other than the gauge on the cluster? on the newer engines the oil pressure sender doesnt even exist and it just plugged from the factory. i have seen this on 3 separate occasions. either the oil pressure reading comes from somewhere else on the newer engines or it doesnt read it at all.

the reason for my question is that i am fitting a 99 cluster in my car and would like to know if i can just delete the sender since i wont be getting a reading anymore. the wire broke off on my harness and i dont want to spend the time to repair it if i dont have to....

So I have verified that with the delete of the oil pressure gauge in the cluster, the oil pressure sender was deleted from the engine with the newer cars. Still leaves me stumped as to whether or not it gets a reading from somewhere else or just not at all. Just from memory, I dont know if there is an oil light on our cluster. If there is, I feel as though that reading would come from the oil level sensor in the pan.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but this is my understanding:

99 gauge cluster has boost gauge in place of oil pressure, so there is no need for the oil sending unit. Only thing it has is the low oil level warning light.

I guess they figured oil pressure is such a small percentage of failures it would be unnecessary to monitor it.

Im asking if the signal from the oil pressure sender goes anywhere other than the cluster and if when installing a 99+ cluster is it fine to delete the sensor.

That sender is just for the gauge, period - the ECU and other systems on the car don't monitor oil pressure.

The oil level sensor in the oil pan still works and lights up the oil light on the 99 cluster, however.
