oil pressure sender

I have a electronic autometer oil pressure guage on a t-fitting with the stock guage and the t is leaking oil. Im working on the car right now so i cant test it but i want to know if i can just cancel out the autometer gauge cause i wanta get different guages soon anyway but use the autometer oil pressure sender and hook it up to the stock guage. I know i tried it over a year ago i think it worked but im not 100% shure. I just wanta ask before i go rip it apart. thank you
