my car went into the limp home mode when the omp went bad and the check engine light came on . I can not remember the defect code garfinkle put a used one in and reset the codes .all good now

When the ECU senses a bad OMP it will go into a LIMP HOME MODE that limits RPM to abt 4,000 and Opens the waste gate & CRV to prevent BOOST from the turbos.
As FD Seeker found out an OMP failyre can FRY a chip in the ECU - so be carefull and mage sure the replament used OMP is ok before installing it - there is a testing routine in the FSM

Yes, I am the poster boy for the strange phenomenon you are referring to. Indeed my MOP went bad and took my ECU with it. I'm told this is not really common, but it DID happen to me.
