It's leaking. Replaced the oil pan gasket, torqued the bolts to spec, it's leaking from the big bolts that hold the mounting brackets. Any suggestions?

 

i would recommend NOT using a factory gasket. they are expensive and not soft enough to conform to the jagged bottom of our engines (mine at least). I use Hi-temp RTV silicone. I have done it a few times. I would suggest taking everything back off, let it sit for awhile so all the oil stops leaking onto the gasket surface. Then THOROUGHLY clean both surfaces and rub them down with some paint thinner or rubbing alcohol. once they are totally dry put a bead on the oil pan (i do this rather than the block) bolt it back up properly and let it sit for atleast 12hrs. I'm gonna let mine sit for longer than that next time because i'm getting tired of re-doing it. i don't think i let it sit long enough last time so it came back.

If you don't want to use the factory one.....just go to Mazdaspeed and buy one from them. I don't know if RTV silicone will work to form and maintain a gasket.

 

do you know what kind of gasket material they are using?

 

Here's the funny thing. I tightened the bolts on the bracket. When the car is level, the oil does not leak. When the front is raised, it leaks. Any takers?
