Oil galleries modified?
Hi
I see a lot of descriptions of FD's with " modified oil galleries" . Can anyone explain what they mean by this? I'm assuming the oil "out" and " return " on the engine has been bored out to allow more flow? i

Could refer to several things. There is a thermal pellet in the eccentric shaft that restricts the flow of oil to the rotors when cold to speed warp up. This isn't a good thing and contributes to engine wear on cold start. When the oil warms up, the thermal pellet opens and allows full flow of oil. Most engine builders replace this worthless device with either a solid plug or use washers to shim the stock pellet open. Either way, engine life is increased. It is also possible to port the oil passages near the oil pump for increased flow. The stock casting around the oil pump pickup is pretty rough. Smoothing it out and port matching the inlet to the pickup tube increases oil flow. I offer both of these options when I do an engine rebuild.
