Oil Cooler Thermostat?

The oil coolers on an FD arent switched to flow by thermostat are they? Quite frankley, I didn't think there WAS such a thing... Anyway, someone asked how to keep them flowing at all times... And I figured I'd ask before I answer... Please tell me they aren't..

Oh, has anyone successfully mounted a fan behind one yet? I used the SEARCH, but all I got was stuff about upgraded coolers, and cooler fans..
but never if anyone sucessfully did it yet..

Thanks!!

There IS a thermostat in the oil cooler(s). I'm not sure what temp it/they open at though.

IMHO. I'm not sure that is a good idea. Cold oil, especially 20W50 which most use is pretty thick, you want it to warmup quickly so it lubricates better. Is there any particular reason you would want to do this? Do you know something Mazda engineers don't?

Take off the thermostat and couple the input and output lines together with a pipe or replace with a single longer line

Listen to luneytune - unless your car is a DEDICATED RACE CAR don't remove the oil thermostat. - You want the oil to warm up to operating temp as quickly as possible and to maintain that temp even on the coldest days.
