Oil Cooler Line Leak

Hi all.

I have a leak coming from the lower oil cooler line. I am going to try to order a new copper crush washer, but any tips on removing the line and locking spring retainer? Anyone remember what size the large nut is? I couldn't get my pipe wrenches around that thing!

That's not a common spot for a leak. Someone may have monkeyed with that in the past.

The clip that holds it on is easy to remove - just get a small flat head screwdriver and pick it out. You will probably want to hit that fitting with PB Blaster or something, once the clip is out you have to wiggle that line and pull it back out. It's frequently stuck and the penetrant helps.

Can't remember the size of that fitting but go get a right sized wrench, don't try and use a pipe wrench or something crap. If you have a digital caliper you can measure. It's probably like a 27mm or something.

Hey Kevin, where is it leaking? Between the large nut and the cooler? If so, that is a strange place to leak. 32mm should be the same as 1 1/4” if that helps any.

Hey Mike. The best I can tell is that it's leaking from the copper crush washer. I'll take a closer look today once I get the wrench delivered from Amazon.

This rubber/copper gasket seal was the culprit. I think I had a seal that was somewhat defective with some surface roughness so I lightly sanded it down and tightened it back up to fix the leak.
