OH Towin hooks

I fabricated some tow hooks from some 1/2" & 3/8" steel plate.

Front & rear hooks. Mine are red and my buddy Pauls are yellow. I know they dont need to be that heavy but I was trying to copy the look of the FEED hooks.

We put Pauls (the red fd) front hook on upside down so to speak since he has a AC condensor still. When I ported and built his engine we got rid of the AC pump but havent removed the condensor yet. He may want to keep the AC.

OH Heres whats up....

Heres whats up w/my tow hooks..... The facts & possible options are as follows:

In order to fabricate them I require .5" plate steel. I then use my cardboard templates and trace out the pattern on the plate steel. Then, I cut the steel w/a oxy/acet torch. Then drill the holes (the big one takes a minute too and can easily burn up 2 hole saw bits per hook). Then grind down all the rough torch cut edges. Then prep for primer/paint (automotive paint booth).

For me anyway, a pc. of .5" structural steel plate 35" x 19" will cost almost $300.
I dont know how many hooks can be made from one pc. but I'm not sure I could compete w/for example the FEED hooks which I think a pair is less than $300. Now if I had lets say 8-12 folks who all wanted a set (front & rear) I think it may work.

Also, the easiest way I know to make em would be w/a serious punch press machine which would easily cost .25million.

These are some sweet hooks though, and bolt up to OEM holes in frame. You could lift my car w/a crane from the tow hooks no doubt.

I would have to think the best case would be $175 per set.

Where do they sell feed toe hooks for 300? Max I see them for is 173 shipped for both front and rear. Wouldn't it of been cheaper to get the feed then, than making your one, I thought you can still connect the feed if you have the condenser you just need minor modifying done. I could be wrong.

OH Even cheaper yet...

RHD Japan, like $172 plus shipping. The 3 sets I made were from material I already had access to for free. I ran out of .5" steel plate otherwise I would have made more. So for me it costs nothing but my own labor.

I think the FEED ones are a no brainer...
