Tracking the mileage isnt gonna stop them. All it can take is a couple donuts in the parking lot or a couple of burn outs to mess something up. Just a thoght.

I always keep track of my mileage, even when I take it to Rotary Performance, who I trust with every fiber of my being. My wife has me so paranoid that I remove CD cases, garage door openers, and only leave the alarm remote and car key. She watches too much TV!

just so we're clear, the owner of the car is the shop owner's girlfriend, and let's both him and my friend drive it regularly. She's got money out the *** and the FD is not one of her nicer cars.

I don't think you're paranoid at all. I once had the rear ashtray stolen out of my BMW while it was being repaired. Someone apparently found themselves a good deal while five fingered shopping for an interior part and took it out of the car while it was parked in the shop's lot. The repair shop replaced the ashtray, no charge, but still.......unscrupulous people are always looking for targets of opportunity.

Not to say its not a beautiful piece of machinery, but compared to a '57 Jag roadster that gets driven once a month, a brand spankin' new Escalade, and a Porsce 928 S that is so clean you could eat out of the engine bay, the FD is the beater of the bunch.

Which is a good thing..

I gotcha. I always think of that parking lot attendant (and his buddy) in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

So if she finds out that you and your buddy were running it up to 145 mph, as you claimed, she's just gonna say, "Yeah, that's cool. Whatever." I don't effing think so.

You could get a R1 model with a sunroof. I have a book "Mazda Rx-7 Performance Handbook" It showed a picture of a R1 that had a factory sunroof. .....

R1s does NOT come with a factory sunroof...period

If your referring to the front cover..its a touring

Im assuming it was Montego Blue. The paint looked blue when it was in direct sunlight, but looked green when we pulled it into the garage. And according to my friend's boss it was a 94 R2 (leather, stock spoilers, sunroof, power everything)
It's actually the exact opposite -- more green in sunlight and deep blue in the dark. I own a MB and it looks much better at night than at day.

As I recall, Shiv's story was that some punk kid working there took it for a joyride in the parking lot and wrecked into a Bimmer (7 series?) and a chain link fence. He posted the whole story on the Big List. I don't recall whether he sued, but I do recall that he indicated the shop owner was being difficult about compensating Shiv for the damage.

I believe that was one of the major causes for delays in SCC's Project RX-7 series.
