Haha...nice. Yea, there's simply never enough money to make your FD simply perfect, is there?

OEM rails are like $600 - $900 a pop new (I've received conflicting quotes). You can get FD-specific Recaro rails and they should fit w/ minor work, or FD-specific Bride rails, but I REALLY don't like those, b/c they fasten to the seat from the side, meaning you gotta drill holes into the carbon kevlar shell Some of the seats come w/ OEM rails, some come w/ aftermarket. It's really your luck of the draw. Some even come w/ regular FD OEM seats (like the leather or suede seat) brackets that have been modified to fit the Recaros. That should easily be done by any fabricator, for $200 or less.

Your terminology is incorrect. The seats do NOT recline. Reclining implies the seat back itself reclines. The seat is one coherent shell, w/o the capability to recline. The OEM seat rails had an OPTION for allowing the seat rail to TILT, causing the ENTIRE seat to tilt. Again, that's an option, and wasn't standard. Oh and trust me, I've seen/had/owned more sets of these than prob anyone else

JDM FD's can easily be brought in. But they'd have to be brought in w/ the subframe dropped and windshield removed etc (as a parts car). In fact, one of the guys on this thread (if he wants to chime in, he will) recently told me that they made him strip the chassis, including all the body panels, and I think even the doors? This seems to be a new addition to the parts-only cars rule.

Oh and before you ask, I'm not interested in being involved in *any* way, be it direct or indirect, w/ illegally bringing in a JDM FD to be later used on US streets. There are plenty of shady avenues you can find on the internet to help you w/ that. I'm strictly legit.

Haha...Alex, I won't play like I'm perfect or have never cut corners, but I think I can honestly say it's never been about money. IMHO, morals and values (or lack thereof) can neither be bought or sold. They're priceless

So you're looking to break up again? If so, PM me and we'll get to talkin about the wiring harness hahaha

If anyone is interested I have a nice pair of Authentic Mazda RZ black Recaros for sale $4000. I am located in the Eastcoast in the USA, so no hassles with international shipping, getting damaged or lost in shipping, customs, duties and more importantly no waiting, etc.

These seats are real sweet and have the ultra rare correct factory height adjustable sliders for the tall folks who walk amongst us.

Will PM pics to anyone who is seriously interested. Pleases no dreamers or picture collectors.

Thanks,
Kevin

I did a pricing session at mazda at the weekend and got a current quote on some of the seat parts.

I say 'some' of the parts - as they've annoyingly split the seats into individual parts (with the older versions, you could buy them as a complete set) - in other words, if you want a seat, you have to buy all the individual pieces and put it all together. There are 40 or so parts.

I couldn't be bothered pricing it all out, so I just priced the 4 main sections of the actual seat - shell, main cover, upper pad, butt bad...

These came to a total (inc tax) of 391,545yen. @today's rate, that's US$3,496.

Once you bought the other 35 or so parts, you can guarantee it would be well over US$4k before shipping, etc.
