Odyssey PC680 recharge time?
Odyssey PC680 recharge time?
My PC680 battery is dead and started to put the battery on a charger. How long does it usually take to recharge this battery? I didn't start my car for 2 weeks and after trying to jump start the car, the engine just won't turn over. Any suggestions appreciated.
I would suggest a disconnect/cut-off switch for when you aren't driving it. Something like this:

or you could get a float charger. It charges the battery when it needs in at .5-1.5 amps usually then turns itself off when the battery has a full charge. that way you can just leave it connected all the time you do not have to watch it.
i noticed that after i fully charged the battery and the car wouldn't turn over, but the stereo, power windows all work... that i had to recharge the battery since the battery level was at mid-level power!

Checkout page 6 & 7.
First you need to make sure your charger output voltage doesn't exceed 15vdc.
Next check your battery voltage to determine it's state of charge with a digital meter.
12.84 vdc = 100% charged battery
12.50 vdc = 75%
12.18 vdc = 50%
11.88 vdc = 25%
Chart shows 2 hr charge time with a 10 amp charger. 1 hr with a 20 amp charger, but it may take 40+amps for 1/2 hr to excite the battery to accept a charge.
I would call a Odyssey dealer for more info.
I have killed two PC925MJ's in the last 4 years. Both were replace under warranty for free. (I bought the 1st used & it still was covered)
The 1st one fried a cell & the 2nd wouldn't charge. Both happen after lapping days.

About 6 months ago, I drained a PC680 by running the windshield wipers for a while (cleaning the water spray nozzles) and then accidentally leaving the ignition on for about 2 hours without the engine running. I took it to AutoZone, who recharges batteries for free. They put it on their slow charger which took about 3-4 hours, and it's been fine ever since.
