odometer fraud?
as many of u may or may not know i have a 93 automatic FD (doing the 5 spd swap) and my friends got me thinking, it may not have 41K on it how can I be assure myself that it does have only 41k on it? it does have alot of rust for one, but it also used to live in jersey, anyone have some advise?how hard or easy is it to do?

You could run a carfax. That will tell you if it has odometer fraud. However, if it doesn't report it and you discover it does, they'll buy the car back.
You need to make sure that the Carfax agrees with 41k. However, only major events such as emissions or dealer repairs will show.
Other than a replaced speedometer, it is very difficult to reprogram a 3rd Gen odometer. You can disassemble it and check to see if any of the legs on the chip have been cut or the chip de-soldered. That indicates reprogramming.

See if you can run the VIN against state vehicle inspection records (not sure about NJ) the mielage is recorded each time the car is inspected. A step back between inspections signals a replaced guage cluster with one from a car with lower mileage.
