Odometer display shows nothing...search no workie

I hadn't started up my car in 2 weeks or so, until yesterday. She started up fine (and ran beautifully), but my odometer display is empty. Looks like there is an orange back light, but no numbers.

What could this be? I don't think it would be a fuse. I don't think it is a bulb, but could be. For some reason, I'm sure this has been covered but since the switch of servers, it looks like search isn't running yet.

Thanks for the help.

It went bad, and I believe the only way to fix it is to replace it with a new one, or buy a used one with similar miles...

So you're saying I lost my odometer, and have no way to track my true mileage now? Why doesn't this seem good?

Any idea on how much this would cost? I don't think I want to know.

I'd check the contacts on the ribbon cable on the back of the gauge cluster, it's covered by a black plastic piece...

P.S. how many miles ?? (when you last saw it) I might have one that would work... PM Me

Anyone else with ideas? And is this a fairly easy replacement for DIYers?

Thanks again.

Taking out the instrument cluster isn't too hard.

All you have to do is remove the steering column trim, by pulling the top piece straight up out of the bottomg piece. Then literally just pull the cluster straight out till you can see the wiring harnesses. It takes a good amount of force to pull it out the first time, but it will pop out. Then it's just a matter of check the harnesses and/or removing them.
