Odd Headlight question.
Okay, so I've had my FD for a couple of months everything has been working fine, which we all know means it's only a matter of time before something comes apart.
Well, the time came, my passenger side headlight retractor motor died. I ordered and replaced the motor without much effort. This is where my problem starts. As soon as I plugged the motor back into the cars electrical system it popped up. When the headlight button on the inside of the car is in the 'down' position. The drivers side headlight stayed down. When I press the button to bring the lights up the drivers side pops up and the passenger side goes down. Vice versa when I press the button to put the lights down.
My car is an import from japan and I got the new motor through my local mazda dealership, could this have anything to do with it? Or is there some sort of electrical gremlin I need to deal with here?
...I'd love to just go with a sleek light conversion, but I'd rather look after the performance side of my car rather than visual.

This is what I've been doing.
It means popping the hood, pop up one light, unplug it, and then pop up the next, and pull the retractor fuse to keep them both up. This gets to be a real pain to do, I was hoping there would be another solution

did you just replace the motor? if so, toggle the headlights so they're both supposed to be down. remove the problem headlight and detach the arm that connects to the motor. reattach it with the headlight in the down position. that should do it.
i had this problem when replacing a headlight motor and i hadn't kept track of that stuff.
