Odd boost pattern?
Ok, before everyone gets pissed, i did search about this and i found some info, but not responses i was looking for.
We have installed an Apex'i intake, and an HKS downpipe on my brothers 93 touring.
The boost pattern is 10-9-11. But at the changeover between primary and secondary turbos, it feels like the car is pulling harder than when the second turbo comes completely online. The boost guage still reads 9, sometimes 10 at the changeover, but everyone who has been in the car at WOT agrees it definitely pulls harder on the changeover.
The car isn't spiking at all, so i assume it's safe, but is this normal? I know the boost pattern is a little off, but shouldn't you feel a slight lag in power because of less boost? All logic seems to say so, but boost guage says 10, cars pulls harder.

peak power on a stock motor is going to happen not that far after transition....you should notice it tail off after about 6-65k...when does yours start to drop?
put it on a dyno...just one run...that will tell ya exactly where yer power is going.
you could also have a clogged main cat....that will limit your boost and keep the turbos from flowing properly.
among other things

that is the opposite of what you should feel. most people feel that lil lag in power during transision and hold on for kingdom come with the 2ndary fully comes on. I wouldn't worry about it much. Depends on your mods etc though.

artguy,
boost isn't limited at all though, if anything it's over stock levels. although the main cat may be clogged it isn't limiting that.
Dyno run would be nice, but that require finding one and paying for it, i think it'll happen soon though.
but anyway thanks for the help

The reason you feel more power is due to the air flow increase. A simple analogy would be increasing a one foot pipe to a two foot pipe, the pressure could be the same but the flow has doubled. When the second turbo is brought on line you feel the flow increase due to less exhaust back pressure.
