O2 sensor

i bought this car and found out the o2 sensor isn't hooked up

what might that do performance wise...the chenck engine light is on.

i can't find the connecting wire anywhere, does it come out of the main wire harness on the fire wall or what?

any help would be great

it wouldnt harm performance at all
it is on the passenger side of the harness. there is a ground on the back of the upper intake manifold and that is connected to the harness near where the connector for the 02 sensor is. Its a real tiny connector single pin I believe. good luck

Surely it would affect it ?? How is the ECU working out how much unburnt fuel/oxegen etc... without it being plugged in ?

Or does the FD not work like that ??

Almost no cars work like that.

Almost all cars use a narrowband o2 sensor to promote fuel economy and emissions during cruising/light throttle conditions. Once you get into more throttle, the ecu relies on built-in pre-programmed fuel maps to run the car, as the narrowband o2 sensor is no longer accurate in those conditions.
