Nreed help did I blow my motor?

1994 RX7: How do I kow if I blew my engine? The other day I was driving and was around 6500 RPM when the car just shut off. I tried turning it on but it would not turn over. After many tries it finally did with a violent shake and I had to keep my foot on the gas to get the car home or the car would turn off. Once I got home I checked oil and it was full but when I opened up the oil cap there was some smoke, not like water boiling but like cigarette smoke kind of thick. I checked the coils, and wires and all checked out. I have been doing the tranny since then so have not had a chance to troubleshoot further untilI put the tranny back on. Any ideas? I am goign to check the plugs. I hope it is either fuel or spark related and not the motor. I use the protekR in the fuel for extra protection. I want to know before I put the tranny back.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but that sounds very similar to what happened to me when I blew my seals. There are other things to check, like vaccuum lines and such, but I wasn't so lucky, I hope you are.

Hate to say it, but I agree and it is similar to bad seals. Shitty, but good at the same time. Now you can bet the 20B.

Talking

Not near any stage where I'd want to go to a 20B. Already ordered a reman motor from Malloy Mazda. I was in the process of putting in a reman tranny. Luckily I still have not put it back on so it should be easier to remove the motor. I will practically have a new car.

Question

I am sure you did check. It might be a loose map sensor hose.....
