Norwegian member with a new FD

Hello everyone!

I didn't even know I had an account here, but I guess I do :p

I recently bought a J-spec 94' FD (with an almost complete 99 visual rebuild).

Picture:

The car is delivered in about 1 month (probably more though, just my luck). I bought the car from TP-Racing here in Norway who looked up on the Japanese market and found me this beauty.

The only thing I know of missing from a complete 99 spec visual rebuild is taillights.

I guess I will be looking around on these forums alot when I get my car. I can't wait!

Nice, very nice.

Remember, we have a FAQ thread stickied at the top of this forum, loaded with links to old discussions and other sites.

Just curious, this company TP-Racing, how do they make sure the car doesn't have any mechanical problems? Do they have a person in Japan who can inspect it?

Dave

TP-R inspects their cars using a trusted person living in Japan. Because of this I'm 99% sure to get a good car. I also know first hand a couple of other persons that bought their cars from TP-R already. One of them a 96' black RX-7 RZ.

Illyont,

Congrats on your purchase. You're going to LOVE your Gen 3. Nice ride indeed. One of my college friends grew up in Stavanger. While he was in college stateside he bought several muscle cars and had them shipped back home. Sounds like the custom car scene is very active in Norway. Show them what rotary power is all about!

Enjoy!

I don't want to sound rude, but bilforumet.net are crowded with kids.. Some of them might be old enough to drive in age, but in their heads they are still 10 years old.

norskwankelregister.com sounds a bit more serious, I might register there when I get the car. We will see.

Thank you! I'm certanly looking forward to it.

We have a couple of seriously built 600+ rwhp RX-7's here in Norway, and quite a few Skyline and Supras too.

My car is staying pretty close to stock when concerning horsepower because I'm driving to and from work everyday among other things.

My long-term goal is to get 400 rwhp and still staying twin turbo.

After my SAFC, exhaust, intake and cooling upgrades are in place I'm going for about 300 rwhp.

It's gonna be fun to see how much rwhp I get on the dyno when the car is bone stock. I'm hoping for 200 rwhp. As the engine is producing about 239 hp (atleast it should produce that amount).

Maybe I'll just buy a clip from Japan with a 2002 engine (they are 280 hp in stock form) and swap them, before trying to reach my 400 rwhp goal. Since they come with new turbos. Instead of upgrading the two turbos I already have. It might be cheaper to buy the entire engine (clip)..

I will also try to repaint the engine bay and a few other small but not visible areas in the same original 99' blue color. Only time will show

forget the safc and do it right the first time - pfc

you're thinking of euro-delivered hp - the japanese FDs of that era make 255hp (or thereabouts), and you're looking at rwhp in the low 200 region (assuming 15-17% loss). With basic bolt-ons, a proper ecu and tuning - low 300rwhp is very, very easy

The reason I'm choosing the SAFC is because I'm buying it cheap from a friend (he is using it in his Impreza right now).

I'm guessing it should be enough at first while I'm learning the car and not doing alot of modifications. It's probably enough to reach my first goal too.

Then I can think about the Commander when going for the next step (swapping the engine for a 02 engine or getting new turbos and a rebuilt original engine). Only time will show. I'm pretty sure I will stay twin turbo though.

With 255 hp as a default and a 17% loss in drivetrain I'm getting 210-212 hp. I would be happy with that result as a plattform to build on. My car atm have only 130 hp at the crank :p Everything should be an improvement.

And after driving a 03' JDM STi the other day I'm stunned.. It was really fun to drive. My poor Audi A4 have never been the same again after that day
