Noob with oil leak (picture)

Hey guys,

I just found maybe two oil leaks, from the bottom of the engine. I have no issue to start the car when is hot but when I press de gaz a little and I park the car, there's white smoke at idle from the bottom of the engine and it's smell something. There is the picture.... What's wrong in ur opinion?

The arrow on the bottom is a motor mount contact point which does not leak. The Pipe that is running to the engine is an oil line for your turbos, which would not be responsible for the white smoke coming from your exhaust.

White smoke is generally a good indicator of a coolant leak a.k.a o-ring failure. Smell it at idle, does it smell sweet? If so, you are burning coolant.

The arrow on the right is pointing at one of the turbo oil drains. There's a gasket in there that can cause an oil leak.

The white smoke at idle may be coolant burning off. Does it smell sweet?

edit: Apparently spoolage and I were on the same page

oil burning off the exhaust/manifold/hotness in the engine bay can also cause WHITE smoke. (I know from experience).

though if there's a sweet smell in the air then it's coolant. BUT my hunch is that it's oil burning off dripping off onto the exhaust manifold.

It is not clear from the picture exactly where the oil is coming from---it could be the turbo oil drain pipe gasket,it could be the rear main seal/stationary gear oil ring,it could be the oil pan thru the engine mount bolt(s) or even something above the turbo.
You need to clean up the area using a solvent (brake cleaner or similar)so ther is no oil or oil residue present, then check for leakage after running your motor.

you could also pull the inspection cover(top left of picture)shine a light in there--if you see oil running down the behind the flywheel you have a main seal/o-ring leak.

Mine leaked there on the oil lines there too. I just replaced the gaskets and it fixed the problem. Was a pain in the *** to replace the upper ones. I recommend doing them all at the same time.

Hard to tell from the picture what the fluid is, but it looks like oil to me. Replace the turbo oil lines and see if this helps the leak. Also check for oil inside of the bell housing through the inspection plate on the bottom, it is possible for the rear stationary gear o ring to leak too.

I have a serious oil leak coming from the same area in my car too. On mine, it is leaking from the turbo oil retun line (rear). On my car, whenever I park it after a long drive, id see white smoke coming from under the hood, and it turns out the oil was dripping onto the catalytic conveter, causing the white smoke. I also have an oil leak from the oil pan gasket, but I dont think that a leaky oil pan gasket will drip onto a catalytic converter. However if the white smoke is actually coming out of your exhaust and you smell coolant then you may be burning coolant. Try and look for visible leaks first to see if its something else maby.

Grimple was right!

It was oil burning on the manifold and the exhaust! My crank seal is broken :P.. Rather this than a rebuilt
