NO rev limiter
Hello!!!
I have a tricky question and hopefully you can help me answer before I blow up my engine
My problem is that the FD will not engage the rev limiter in 3rd and 4th gear
I have an Apexi Power FC + Commander which has been working fine since 2004...I recently swaped my manual gearbox ( destroyed ) with a second hand one...
When I went back on the road I noticed that the car would not engage the rev limiter in 3rd and 4rth gear ( I dont have a long enough road to try the limiter in 5th
I stopped and manually reduced the limiter to 4000 rpm using the commander and in neutral raised the revs. So far so good. The limiter worked fine. Raised it again to 5K , 6K , 7K , 8K and in neutral was working fine every single time
Then I tried in 1st gear...FINE
Then I tried in 2nd gear... Fine again
But in 3rd and 4rth the limiter DOES NOT WORK
Is there a sensor or plug on the gearbox that we might have connected wrong that tells the ECU what gear the car is in or does it got nothing to do with the gearbox???
Is it the ECU???
Please help??!!

But since you think it is trans related, check your trans harness connectors. Do it just for the experience of doing it.
Pull the PFC, check its harness pins, re-install. Check PFC grounds.
Using the manuals, check where the PFC gets its tach signals, "crank angle sensors".
Check them, check wiring.
