Thumbs down No more HUD Boost Gauges?

http://www.rollhard.com/defiboosttimer.htm

I noticed that the Defi HUD boost gauge has been discontinued... does anyone know why? I'm looking for a boost guage -- but I don't really want to pay $204 for a column mount from RE Amemiya.

I don't recommend the RE pod unless you use an RE gauge. My autometer fits like **** in the pod. It is too deep and will not set all the way in the pod which looks ghetho. Not to mention you have to dremel the side so that you don't hit the turn stalk every time you put on your right blinker.

Dang! You're not kidding! They must have JUST discontinued them, too - I just looked at the Defi website less than a month ago, and they were still in production.

They do have two new heads-up products, but neither do a boost display. http://www.defi-shop.com for more details.

If you want one, I would get on the horn RIGHT NOW and find someone that's got it in stock. I'm sure there's still stock out there that's unsold. Try gruppe-s.com as well - they've got good prices on gauges.

On the RE pod - it's designed for Japanese gauges, which are typically slimmer than Autometer's giant gauges. It should fit any Japanese gauge just fine.

You can also get the RX-7 Store mount:

It doesn't sink like the RE (and copies) mount does so it will fit deeper gauges much easier, and it's also cheaper. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with a way to "secure" it. It basically just sits there. I'm still thinking of a good way to secure mine, still have it look nice but also be able to be removed easily.

However, as it is, it doesn't move or fall out of place even unsecure through spirited driving.

Well, maybe if they discontinued it, they might be making a better one soon....why don't you just wait a little bit and see if they do come out with a better one?

Not the clearest picture but you get the point. 310 shipped w/insurance for 2 more days if you're interested, and I am NOT the seller, just a happy customer

I'll try contacting the various companies that make them and ask about the details of the gauges.

Mahjik, Have you considered using some black rvt silicone to secure your column mount? Thats what I used anyways. I haven't tried removing it yet but I think it would come off easily.

They light up to look like the stock "red/orange" gauges, iirc.
